Bad Weather, Great Fishing Day
If you were Jamie Maisenbacher and his father Jim and you had over 18 lbs in the boat you would feel pretty good about winning round 2 of the Strike King Ever-Bloom Tournament trail on Evergreen Lake wouldn't you? No such luck, two other teams Tim Fauth and Scott Anderson and Fred Myers and Ken Peterson bested the Maisenbachers by over 3 lbs, with 21.92 and 21.59 respectively.
This was a real slugfest with the 3 winning weights each checking in one right after another. First Myers and Peterson, then Fauth and Anderson and finally the Maisenbachers who were one fish short of a 5 bass limit with 18.55 lbs.
The Maisenbachers did have Mossy Oak big bass of 6.14 and another one at 5.51. The 6.14 was good for the $210 Big Bass payout. Myers and Peterson had one at 6.11 and Fauth and Anderson brought a 5.92 to the scales. Jim Crowley and Andy Wegner also had a 5.15 bass in the event.
The Maisenbackers were the Setyr Rods First out of the Money winners as well and won two premium spinnerbait rods from Setyr. The Big Bass of the Year could win them a sponsorship for their team from Mossy Oak Fishing Line if that weight holds on.
The weather seemed like March but the fishing was warm as toast and a jig and chunk was the ticket for each of the winning teams. Fauth and Anderson fished mid to North portions of the lake and caught their fish on a jig and chunk to capture the first place money of $546.
Myers and Peterson also fished the mid to North portions of the lake with jig and chunk on their way to a $294 second place payout.
Rounding out the Top 4 was AJ Bailey and Scott Bree with 9.75 lbs and the Strike King Top to Bottom award. Our next event is May 27 at Bloomington. Please let us know if you are planning on attending.
