Classic Results

The 2006 Strike King Ever-Bloom Classic was a nail biter. Saturday's starting temperature was 35 degrees and wind gusts were well over 30 mph. To show just how tough the anglers are in Central Illinois there were 20 fish caught for a very respectable 51.85 pounds of bass.

Vicious Fishing Big Bass on day one was caught by Whitacre and Estes and it weighed 5.73 pounds.

The team of Scott Bree and AJ(Flash) Bailey led after the first day with 12.04 lbs followed closely by Richard(you can call me Dusty) Whitacre and Brian Estes with 11.96 pounds.

Not Much of a Slugfest

The final Strike King Ever-Bloom event at Lake Bloomington on August 19 was anything but a slugfest but Dusty Whitacre and Bryan Estes proved that persistance and grinding all day does pay off. The duo finished the day with the only 5 bass limit that weighed a respectible 11.56 pounds to win. They bettered the team of Larry Andris and Ron Long who weighed 3 fish at 8.86 lbs.

Maisenbacher and Didonato Win at Evergreen

Two guys with names that sound like a Chicago law firm won the July 22nd Strike King Ever-Bloom Tournament trail event on Evergreen Lake with 5 fish that weighed 16.77 lbs. They also had another monster bass of 6.19 lbs to take Mossy Oak Big Bass as well. If that big bass holds they will be receiving a years sponsorship from Mossy Oak. Great job again Jamie and Guido! They caught their fish shallow on a Zoom Brushhog.

Whitacre / Estes Victorious

A cool morning with bluebird skies welcomed anglers to the fith stop on the Strike King Ever-Bloom Tournament Trail on Lake Bloomington. Many of the tournament fishermen donned windshirts and jackets at the 6:00 am takoff, but the early fishing was anything but cold. Twenty two teams brought 51 fish to the scales that totaled 117.63 pounds. Talk around the scales revealed that a vast percentage of the green guys were caught before the air temperature warmed to the low 80's.

Big Bass Bonanza at Lake Evergreen

Great fishing means great weigh ins and Stop 4 of the Strike King Ever-Bloom Tournament Trail was no exception. Docktalk before the event as a result of pre-fishing talked of 20 lb bags and big fish. Comlara Lake Fest included our weigh in as part of the festivities and although the weights did not meet the estimated forecasts it was still exceptional.

Finally...Nice Weather

Stop 3 on the Strike King Ever-Bloom Tournament trail was on Lake Bloomington May 27. Unbelievably great weather greeted 18 teams but no one told the bass they should be biting. Fish were in pre-spawn, spawn and post spawn and the bite was super tough. Only 12 keepers were brought to the scales but the cream indeed rose to the top again.

Bad Weather, Great Fishing Day

If you were Jamie Maisenbacher and his father Jim and you had over 18 lbs in the boat you would feel pretty good about winning round 2 of the Strike King Ever-Bloom Tournament trail on Evergreen Lake wouldn't you? No such luck, two other teams Tim Fauth and Scott Anderson and Fred Myers and Ken Peterson bested the Maisenbachers by over 3 lbs, with 21.92 and 21.59 respectively.

Miserable Weather Again

We have had some miserable weather before for openers but this years kick-off ranked right up there with some of the worst. Twenty four teams were met with temps in the upper 50's and brisk southeast winds of over 25 mph. Larry Russell and Randy Ferguson blew away the rest of the pack with 9.37 lbs. They caught their fish flipping and pitching in Money Creek and got $624.00 for the win. They are now leading the Terminator Heavy Weight of the Year.
